Huber Breaker

Balcony View

A snapshot from the interior of the breaker which consisted of an entirely metal frame. Many of the early original Pennsylvania region coal breakers were made from wood and as a result, subsequently many burned prior to demolition. Out of the hundreds of coal breakers which once dotted the coal fields, next to none remain standing today, sans few a few very small structures which all all modern in design. The later coal breakers were constructed using a steel frame and lined with glass windows as to allow in as much sunlight as possible to naturally illuminate the otherwise dark, dreary, and dusty interior.
