As the stairwell climbed up toward the attic each additional landing became more and more rotted, until reaching the top uppermost landing which was covered by a solid 4 inches of raccoon dookie growing a dome of hair-like mold. The literal weight of the shit was beginning to cause the stairs to severely sag.
