Grossinger's Catskill Resort Hotel
Tunnel
While poking around inside the power plant I noticed a small inlet alongside a wall within a flooded basement area. Stepping across a series of protruding pipes and oil drums I made my way down to the opening to discover it led into a very old length of tunnel. The cement walls were collapsed but one could still navigate over the debris piles. The tunnel continued straight ahead for a few hundred feet eventually opening up into a subbasement beneath the large warehouse styled building which may have been the original resort kitchen. This subbasement was lined with rows and rows of metal shelving, most likely used to store food, as the environment was cool, dark, and dry.
