Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital
Art Deco Hell
Looking out over the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in New Jersey. The campus includes over 10 high-rise buildings, which served as the original facility for the Jersey City Medical Center. All the art deco style buildings were constructed during the late 1920s and early 1930s under the Works Progress Administration. After the medical center vacated the space in the late 1970s the massive complex remained abandoned for decades. Currently, nearly all of the structures have been restored and repurposed into residential and office space known as the Beacon. The project was the largest residential restoration project in the country. Below is a postcard detailing just a handful of the incredible buildings.
